Terryland Forest Park survey 17th August 2013

Numbers way down on previous visits to the transect. Could be signal to the impending season ahead. 41 bumblebees; Butterflies 2 Green-vein White; 5 Speckled Wood; 2 Meadow Brown; 1 Peacock. 1 Common Darter. I did notice about 5 bumblebees dead on the flowers they were feeding on or else they were in a catatonic state.

Terryland Forest Park survey 10th August 2013

18th Transect and only about 6 more to go.
Small Coppers were about today and might even have a rare subspecies as per Colin Stanley's over in Merlin Woods.
103 bumble bees covering 3 species and one of those totalled 76. 6 species of butterfly; 3 Large White; 6 Green Vein White; 3 Small Tortoiseshell; 2 Small Copper; 4 Common Blue; 5 Meadow Brown; 1 Speckled Wood. Dragonflies, 1 Common Darter. Numbers way down on previous weeks, temperature was a little lower and very windy. Miss a few shots today due to the wind.

Terryland Forest Park survey 4th August 2013

17th Transect with a new butterfly to the patch by way of a Small Copper cracking little butterfly. 131 bumble bees covering 3 species and one of those totalled 109. 7 species of butterfly; 8 Large White; 4 Green Vein White; 3 Small Tortoiseshell; 3 Small Copper; 3 Common Blue; 4 Meadow Brown; 2 Speckled Wood. Dragonflies, 1 Common Darter and 2 Brown Hawkers. Purchased a net for the butterflies, deployed it today and caught one butterfly, one needs to practise a little more:-)
